“I note with pride and am pleased to commend you for your outstanding performance of duty while assigned to Maritime Safety & Security Team San Francisco (91105) from August 2004 to April 2007.
Upon arrival, you immediately became a pivotal member of the Waterside Security Section as you quickly qualified as a Response Boat Level II Tactical Boat Crewman and Boarding Team Member. In this capacity you logged more than 1100 hours underway in San Francisco Bay and throughout the Pacific Area conducting security patrols, security zone enforcement, vessel escorts and counter drug oeprations.
Additionally, you displayed outstanding initiative as you followed through with your personal goal of completing the rigorous U.S. Navy Basic Diver Course and becoming a member of an elite group of Coast Guard divers. Soon after returning from school, you were immediately deployed to Kodiak, AK to participate in a dive operation in which you assisted in hull inspections and the recovery of Coast Guard Buoys.
Furthermore, you participated in relief operations for Hurricane Katrina and Rita in Southeast Louisiana. Demonstrating exceptional adaptability and stamina, you helped enforce security zones for the President, provided force protection on the Lower Mississippi River, performed urban search and rescue and contributed to nearly 1,000 hours of community service. Your efforts in the epic humanitarian mission truly reflected your outstanding character and devotion to duty.
Thank you for your hard work the past three years. This unit would not be at its current level of readiness and effectiveness without your help. I wish all the best in your future pursuits.
