The US Coast Guard often updates the Navigation Rules and Regulations Handbook, and when they do, I publish a new cover edition to celebrate. As I tell my Nav/Piloting Students, “It’s your job to have a ready copy of this book, at all times underway. It’s the law. It’s important. And you will use it often, if you’re doing things right.”

While updates to the Handbook are published often, updates to the Regulations themselves are more infrequent. The last update to the regulations was in 2020, at which point we published our “Black Edition” also available on Amazon, and legally acceptable.
